Shipping & Rates

6 questions

How do I get a freight quote from Fretrix?

Three ways: the online quote form (fastest — usually under two hours on standard lanes), the freight desk on +1 800 555 1234, or quotes@fretrix.io. Have origin and destination cities, cargo weight and dimensions, commodity type and required transit time to hand. Spot rates on major lanes are often returned within 30 minutes during business hours.

What's included in a Fretrix freight rate?

Quotes are all-in for the scope you request: linehaul, fuel, terminal handling at both ends, documentation and customs entry where we are the broker. Duties, taxes and any storage incurred after free time are shown separately, because they depend on your goods rather than on the movement.

How far in advance should I book ocean freight?

Two to three weeks before the sailing on standard lanes, and four to six weeks around Lunar New Year, peak season and the pre-Christmas rush. Bookings on our contracted allocation are protected against blank sailings; spot bookings are not.

Do you offer door-to-door freight services?

Yes. Door-to-door is priced and tracked as a single movement across every leg — collection, main carriage, customs and final delivery — with one reference and one invoice regardless of how many carriers are involved.

What cargo types do you specialise in?

General palletised and containerised freight, temperature-controlled and GDP-compliant pharma, dangerous goods under ADR and IATA, high-value electronics, and oversized project cargo. Live animals and personal effects are the two categories we do not handle.

Can I change or cancel a booking after confirmation?

Changes are free until the cargo is tendered to the carrier. After that, amendment fees follow the carrier tariff and are shown to you before we make the change. Cancellations after gate-in may incur terminal charges.

Tracking & Visibility

6 questions

How do I track my shipment in real time?

Every booking gets an FTX reference that works in the tracking page, in the platform and through the API. Road legs carry live GPS; ocean and air update against carrier and terminal milestones.

What should I do if tracking isn't updating?

A gap of more than six hours on an active leg is worth raising. Most stalls are a carrier feed rather than a stopped shipment, and our ops desk can confirm position directly with the handler within the hour.

Can I share tracking access with my team?

Yes. Accounts support unlimited read-only users, and any shipment can be shared by link with customers or consignees without giving them account access.

How often is shipment status refreshed?

Every 15 minutes across all modes. Road GPS is closer to real time; ocean and air refresh as terminal and airline milestones are published.

Will I get alerts for delivery delays?

Yes, and they are measured against the original plan rather than a quietly revised ETA. Each alert arrives with the revised arrival and the recovery option in the same message.

How do I view my full shipment history?

The platform keeps seven years of shipment records, exportable to CSV, with customs entries and proof-of-delivery documents attached to each booking.

Customs & Compliance

6 questions

What documents are needed for customs clearance?

A commercial invoice, a packing list, and the transport document (bill of lading or air waybill). Preference claims need a valid origin declaration, and controlled goods need their licence or permit before the shipment moves.

How long does customs clearance usually take?

Where we file at booking, clearance normally completes before the cargo is available for collection. Entries filed on arrival typically add one to three working days, which is the main reason we file early.

Do you handle duties and tax payments?

Yes, under our deferment account, recharged at cost with the entry attached. You can also pay directly to the authority if you hold your own deferment.

What happens if my shipment is held at customs?

You are notified the same day with the reason code and what is required to release it. Our brokers handle the correspondence; you are only involved when a decision or a document is genuinely yours to give.

Can you assist with restricted goods permits?

We advise on what is required and can file on your behalf in most jurisdictions. Lead times vary widely by commodity and country, so it is worth raising before you commit to a shipping date.

How are customs fees calculated for my cargo?

Duty is a function of HS classification, customs value and origin. We validate the classification and valuation up front so the calculation is predictable and defensible in an audit.

Account & Platform

6 questions

How do I create a Fretrix business account?

Register on the login page with your company details and VAT or EORI number. Accounts are usually verified within one working day, and you can request quotes immediately while verification completes.

Can I add multiple users to one account?

Yes, with role-based permissions — admin, booker and read-only — so warehouse and finance teams can see what they need without being able to place bookings.

How do I reset my account password?

Use the reset link on the login page. If single sign-on is enabled for your organisation, password resets are handled by your own identity provider instead.

Where can I update my company details?

Under Account → Organisation. Changes to the legal entity, VAT or EORI number trigger a short re-verification because customs entries are filed against them.

How do I close or deactivate my account?

Your account manager can close it once open shipments have completed and invoices are settled. Shipment and customs records remain accessible for the statutory retention period.

Can I manage multiple locations in one account?

Yes. Sites can be organised into cost centres with separate billing addresses and their own default collection and delivery instructions.

Billing & Payments

6 questions

What payment methods do you accept?

Bank transfer, direct debit and corporate card. Card payments carry the processing fee at cost; transfer and direct debit do not.

How do I access my past invoices?

All invoices are in the platform under Billing, each linked to the shipments it covers, and downloadable individually or as a monthly statement.

Can I set up automatic monthly billing?

Yes. Consolidated monthly invoicing on direct debit is available once an account has trading history, and replaces per-shipment settlement.

What should I do about a billing error?

Raise a query against the invoice line in the platform. Disputed lines are held while the query is open, so the rest of the invoice can be settled on time.

Do you offer Net-30 payment terms?

Net-30 is available subject to credit check. New accounts usually start on payment before release and move to terms after three months of trading.

How are refunds processed for cancellations?

Refunds are issued to the original payment method within five working days, less any carrier or terminal charges already incurred, which are itemised on the credit note.

Getting Started

6 questions

How do I sign up for Fretrix services?

Register an account or request a quote — no account is needed for the first quote. An account manager is assigned once your first booking is confirmed.

What information do I need to get started?

Company registration details, VAT or EORI number, the lanes you ship, and typical volumes. Product classifications help but can follow once trading begins.

Is there a minimum shipment requirement?

No minimum. LCL and LTL consolidations mean part loads are viable, and there is no annual volume commitment on standard rates.

How soon can my first shipment be booked?

Same day for road and air on established lanes, and against the next available sailing for ocean. Account verification runs in parallel and does not hold up a first booking.

Do you offer onboarding support for new clients?

Yes. Standard onboarding runs about twelve days and covers lane setup, classification review, system integration and a test shipment before volume moves across.

What regions does Fretrix currently serve?

All five continents, with clearance capability in more than 150 countries and owned operations across Europe, North America and APAC.
